Forget about Left versus Right.
Left/ Right What Wikipedia says about it.
On this type of political
spectrum, left-wing
politics and right-wing
politics are presented often as opposed, although a particular
individual or group may take a left-wing stance on one matter and a
right-wing stance on another; and some stances may overlap and be
considered either left-wing or right-wing depending on the ideology.
In France, where the terms originated, the left has been called “the
party of movement” or liberal, and the right “the
party of order” or conservative. Very outdated, because some “left-positions” have become Marxist conservative.
The three class view
If we look to the history of politics, we can clearly recognize another aspect of dominant division that is actual more critical to type political movements, namely nation central dominance (controlled) versus "Laissez Faire" (let it be). Communists and (National) Socialists are clear historic examples of controlled politics. And nowadays, all technocrat politics have a tendency to soft or hard crowd control. The World Economic Forum is a typical example of this technocratic control movement. Also, belief systems linked to dogma's about social organization and prescribe laws can be classified as controlled.
The tensions in modern society are often still labeled left or right but, in my view, completely pointless. Because more frequently, de issue is more about controlled versus Let it be. And what used to be right, these days, is typically technocratic focused control based. Just like communists are.
If we look at the way governments dealt with 'Wuhan Flu', the political debate about how to control it had nothing to do with left or right, but was frequently framed to be so. In fact, it was all about government control versus let it be.
The question to ask for classifying policies today
therefor, I think, should be; What role do we the people expect the government to have?
And what the government is for?
Concluding, I recognize three herds (groups) of people based on social engagement and expectations from governments:
The people who think (or have learned to think) that a government is like a natural phenomenon. I call them “Indifferent”. (The majority of the ignorant people) The Indifferent-class. Death smiles at us all, the only thing you can do is smile back.
The people who know the government is a business with a guarantied cash flow (tax income) and seek to benefit from that. Be it in a subsidies role or in a care receiver role. I call them “Parasites”. (The people with all kind of good stories why they should have a part of the tax pie, but never talking about the real story). The Parasite-class.
The people who work and like to solve problems, collective (together). In public services, or in non-governmental clubs. I call them “Workers”. The Coworkers-class. (The real Laybor)
The Indifferent have a
preference for control, because they think it is an inevitable fact.
The Parasites have a preference for control by business and/or government (what ever
benefits them the most). As long as they can benefit from the tax income in one or the other way.
The workers take responsibility for their social environment and work together for the collective benefit, they expect public services to provide good services without interfering in their daily lives.
