Left versus right as political classification is obsolete

The obsolete model

What Wikipedia says about it.

On this type of political spectrum, left-wing politics and right-wing politics are often presented as opposed, although a particular individual or group may take a left-wing stance on one matter and a right-wing stance on another; and some stances may overlap and be considered either left-wing or right-wing depending on the ideology. In France, where the terms originated, the left has been called "the party of movement" or liberal, and the right "the party of order" or conservative.

The three class view

If we look to the history of politics, we can clearly recognize another aspect of dominant division that is actual more critical to type political movements, namely nation central dominance (controlled) versus "Laissez Faire" (let it be). Communists and (National) Socialists are clear historic examples of controlled politics. And nowadays, all technocrat politics have a tendency to soft or hard crowd control. The World Economic Forum is a typical example of this. Also, belief systems linked to dogma's about social organization and prescribe laws can be classified as controlled.

The tensions in modern society are often still labeled left or right but, in my view, completely pointless. Because more often de issue is more about Controlled versus Let it be. And what used to be right, these days, is often technocratic focused control based. Just like communists are.

If we look at the way governments dealt with 'Wuhan Flu', the political debate about how to control it had nothing to do with left or right, but was frequently framed to be so. In fact, it was all about government control versus let it be.

The question to ask for classifying policies today therefor, I think, should be; What role the government should have? And what the government is for? What do we (the people) expect from a government?

I then recognize three herds (groups) of people based on social engagement and expectations from governments:

  • The people who think (or have learned to think) that a government is like a natural phenomenon. I call them "the Geese". (The majority of the ignorant people)
  • The people who know the government is a business with a guarantied cash flow and seek to benefit from that. I call them “the Parasites”. (The people with all kind of good stories why they should have a part of the tax pie but never talking about the real story). The parasite-class.
  • The people who work and like to solve problems, collective (together). In public services, or in non-governmental clubs. I call them “the Workers”. The Tackle-class.
The Geese and Parasites have a preference for control. The Geese for full control by the government. The Parasites for control by business and/or government (what ever benefits them the most)
The workers take responsibility for their social environment and work together for the collective benefit, they expect governments to provide good public services without interfering in their daily lives.

The big picture on the tensions in society today is (I think) the Parasites and the Geese versus the Workers.
If you study to get a good life, you aim to benefit from the Geese or to be member of the Parasitic-class.
If you go to university to learn, because you are curious, you probably identify as a member of the Tackle-class (Workers).

Historic perspective

One could argue that in feudal times there were only Geese (workers without education can also be considered to be Geese) and Parasites. That over time, when a middle class arose from the Geese, it positioned itself there. While fighting for emancipation of the lower and middle classes, this group clearly opposed the parasites (in the start of the process still mainly nobility). So we got the easy left versus right classification of society politics.
But progress, mainly due to increasing prosperity and education, has made this simple division obsolete. The real issue now is not emancipation, but how to organize society after the last emancipation have been done.

At the same time, we can see the end of the imperialism developing as a consequence of globalization. With its own legal and defense challenges. Consequently, this issue (how to organize society) is a global issue.

What are you?

What class are you? A Goose, a Parasitic, or a Tackle. Or a mix?

The battle of the oceans

We often talk about 'the west' but there is more to it, I think. And this (more) has major implications on geopolitics. We should talk about the (autocratic) land people culture versus the (free) sea people culture. Is it the war for Ukraine and the potential war for Taiwan, or is there a deeper war going on? I think the latter. Let me explain. I see the world moving forward from a (land) nations dominated organization into a free space network organization. I can see a history of wars between freedom and serfdom. The most brutal ones have been the wars of the west and Japan against China. Think about the brutal Opium wars and the Second Sino Japanese War . And the permanent battle with sea powers surrounding it from the Russian Empire in all its forms of appearance (Communistic or not) till today. We live in a time when these wars culminate into global conflicts and new wars. Probably and hopefully the final wars. Beijing, Moscow, Vienna, and Paris have one thing in common, t
